Do you have a fear of giving speeches?
Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT is a technique in which a trained EFT practitioner demonstrates a series of acupoints which you tap. The practitioner taps on her/him self, while the client taps along on themselves. The practitioner also leads the client in a series of verbalizations and asks questions during the tapping. Believe it or not, this process is highly effective in working with emotional difficulties such as fear, anxiety, PTSD, eliminating unwanted habits, and more! This process also help with achieving goals that someone just hasn’t been able to achieve! Also, anyone can use this technique on their own! For me, I like to have a professional tap with me, as I don’t always ask myself the hard questions! Then, I tap as homework.
In this study, the researchers examined Breathing Therapy and EFT with nursing students. Before the intervention, the students’ median scores on the Subjective Units of Disturbance Scale, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and the Speech Anxiety Scale were similar.
After the interventions, the median scores of the Subjective Units of Disturbance Scale, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and the Speech Anxiety Scale scores significantly decreased in both of the groups (p <0.001).
EFT (d = 3.18) was more effective than Breathing Therapy (d = 1.46) in reducing Speech anxiety.
How great is that?! You don’t have to have this fear any longer! I offer EFT both online (ZOOM) and in person and there are many other practitioners out there. If you have an emotion you can’t quite let go of, such as fear of public speaking, consider EFT!
