Hi,
Yes, I have suffered from reflux. The first time I had it was during the time I was going through a significant life event, a divorce. Wow, did it hurt!
Diet is important, of course, and the very things I thought would be helpful (cool ice cream!) was NOT good for cooling the burn of reflux!
Reflux symptoms include heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, and even difficulty swallowing or feeling a lump in your throat. GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is sometimes referred to as chronic acid reflux. Both Reflux and GERD occur when acid-containing contents in your stomach leak back up into the esophagus. The valve at the end of the esophagus just doesn’t close as it should.
There are a number of exercises, techniques, diet regimens, and behaviors that will help with Reflux and GERD. This month I’m going to share a few of them with you.
In Energy Medicine and Accupressure, one point to use is Circulation Sex Meridian acupressure point 6. As you can see in the photo, the point is on the center of the palmar side of the wrist, three finger widths from the wrist crease (toward the shoulder). Gently holding or massaging it sends energy directly to help calm the body and help with digestion.
Take good care, pay attention to diet, and use this point a couple times a day!
Till next Wellness Wednesday,
Valerie
